My daughter that is now 26 was born with Coloboma of both eyes. My question "is there anything medically or surgically that can be done" I have taken her at intervals in her life, the last being 4 years ago and there has been nothing that can be done.

Some History

Amanda has worn glasses since the age of 3 and her eyesight fluctuates. She also has hearing problems and has had 4 ops on her ears to loosen the loosen the little bones that let the sound go through. Amanda also has Kleipel Feil Syndrome whith which all these conditions are linked. Her eyesight is so bad that she will never be ablle to get a drivers licence as she does not pass the test. There are time that she reads with her glasses on and through a magnified glass

will her vision get worse as she gets older????

I would really appreciate some answers and suggestion to try and help her

Thanks so much and looking foward to hearing from you soon

While there is no specific treatment for coloboma, some treatments are available that can manage vision problems associated with the disorder. For example, physicians often recommend cosmetic contact lenses and sunglasses for individuals whose eyesight is adversely affected. Additional optical aids are often helpful such as eye patching. Since many individuals with coloboma are highly sensitive to light, ophthalmologists often recommend special lights or other personalized visual aids.
