Around January 18th I woke up with a cough, stuffy nose, sore throat, short of breath and body aches. I went to the doctor that following week. Was put on Bactrim for 5 days with no improvement in symptoms. Then I started to get fevers of 101 and higher(not any higher than 102.4). Was prescribed a nebulizer with Albuteral to use every 6 hours. That didn't help any any so now it is every 4 hours. I have gone back to the doctors every week for follow-ups and nothing has changes but it is getting worse. Than 2 weeks ago I was put on Cipro for 10 days with no change in symptoms. I was also put on singulair and a flovent inhaler to use twice a day. I have been using these meds since friday with no improvement. My chest is still tight, I am still short of breath and feeling weak. The cough had gotten worse and my ears are pounding but the doctor said that I do not have an ear infection, but my ear canals are inflamed. Was tested for Mono, Lyme, and RA. I also had a chest x-ray done last week and again on friday. Everything has come back negative. Then this morning I woke coughing up pinkish colored phelm and when I blow my nose it is blood and yellow colored mucus. I have had yellow colored mucus since I got sick but never had any blood in it. I do not have blood pouring out my nose, it is only on the tissue when I blow my nose. I am not sure what else I can be checked for or what meds to be put on but I have been out of work for 3 weeks now and really need to get better. Who should I see besides my regular doctor and what should they check me for? Any suggestions would be great so that I can begin to get better and get back to work. I am a teacher at a daycare and my kids are really missing me.
