Cold and flu like Symptoms with pain around rib cage

cold like symptoms (runny nose, itchy throat, cough) with pain around rib cag and can't keep eyes open(sleepy) have taken OTC cold and flu. told symptoms to pharmacist said more like alergy, taking claratin, nose drying up, cough slowed, still sleepy can't make it through the day
