Q: Codeine and Panadol while pregnant ?

my lmp was 6 september. i got my tooth pulled out on the 30th september and needed a dental x ray, over the course of a week and a half i had 20 200mg advil tablets and 10 codiene and 10 panadol and also consumed alcohol. ive only just found out im pregnant. im worried now as i want to know if the fetus would have been exposed to the drugs and if there might be a chance of a birth defect

Hello and welcome to eHealth Forum!

Well, Codeine can cause breathing problems etc and Advil can cause birth defects in the baby (thought usually if consumed in last 3 months). Combined with alcohol the situation can worsen. On the other hand nothing may have happened to the baby.

Hence it is advisable to consult a gynecologist and tell the specialist your complete medical history. The decision whether to terminate or carry on with the pregnancy would need carefully planned investigations. This is beyond the scope of net. Hope this helps. Take care!
