I'm fairly sure the child would be fine. However, I'd be concerned about conceiving a child with a man who uses drugs, even occasionally. They could end up in prison, or overdose, or become addicted. Cocaine isn't something to be used lightly. I would have serious reservations about starting a family with someone who had anything to do with narcotics.

Males sperm is effected by males habits in turn effects baby
Cocaine effects the sperm and passes the blood brain barrier. The man's sperm effect the body chemistry and the babies development. You can have a normal baby if your partner uses cocaine but it might develop mental problems or addictions as an adult. It is best for both the man and woman to abstain from alcohol. Even if the man drinks it effect the sperm and the fetus. Studies have shown that he sperm of heavy drinkers becomes defective and can cause fetal problems. Run the other way if the guy is drinking and drugging. Best to find some one that is straight edge.

I agree I would really think about it, And not just from your perspective how would the child feel abour having a dad on drugs, Also child welfare are you prepared to have a chance of your baby getting taken away. He may not be a bad person but drugs are not to be taken lightly, Good luck

cocaine using daddy
As a mother of a 4 and 6 yr old, who has an ex still addicted to crack cocaine, and in jail I can tell you that now is the time to RUN! I found myself alone with a 6 month old, and 2 year old 3 1/2 yrs ago and I wouldn't recommend the life to ANYONE! He wasn't using when we got married but our lives all turned upside down FAST! He is in jail for breaking into my house for the 4th time! Get out NOW! It started with just occasional use too....

Spouse uses crack cocaine.
I found out on my wedding night that my husband used crack cocaine. He is an upstanding professional and doesn't fit the stereotypical crackhead. I was devasted!! I wanted an anullment, but I decided to give him a chance to prove himself to be a vicotr in this challenge. Four weeks after getting married, I found out I was pregnant. I have been extremely vigilant to keep a watchful eye on my husband, but I feel he may still be using. My advice...do not tie yourself with someone who uses illicit drugs. It will only cause heartache. So far, my baby seems to be unaffected by his father's drug use. I am placing it all in God's hands because crack cocaine is not something to be taken lightly. Joe, we all know you need help. Your family loves you and expects the best from you.

Extremely eHealthy
This post is a year old so I expect you've allready made a call on your boyfriend, but yes, Cocain use affects your chances of having a healthy child. Cocaine use can cause birth defects even if used only by the father. Children of addicts commonly inheirit addictive phychology. Alcoholism reduces sperm count.

More importantly, as others have pointed out, having an addict father is a trial no child should ever have to endure. Before you decide to have kids with someone you both should kick any illegal narcotic habbit you have and seriously evaluate your use of legal drugs.

I am a child of a dad who does cocaine. I know what is like to not no if your dad will come home alive. I have tried to help him with this problem. He wont take it. I have a learning disability due to his usage of cocaine. Trust me no child should have too deal with the things I have. I suffered from severe depression because of him. The mood swings and the things he said to me make me even consider suicide. Today, i am much better coping with it and have eliminated him out of my life.

Will my sons have a healthy child
The world has gone mad. I think my grown up children use it but they deny it. They work, pay me rent etc., but the binge drinking/cocaine happens usually at week-ends. I would not blame any girl if she ran as far as possible once she knew her boyfriend is a user. I just don't want my children (grown up men in fact) dead before me. I hate my life, but am putting on a brave face. My husband left me after a very long marriage. This was partly due to our children's mad lifestyle although at the time it was only alcohol but I think now it's cocaine as well. Oh, God, please give me strength. What I want to know is whether they will be able to father a healthy child if they binge drink heavily and possibly use cocaine at week-ends? My sons girlfriends left them recently but I am thinking about any future partner they may meet. I am so scared of them dying. What do I do?

Can cocaine use be passed via sperm when child is conceived?
My husband began using cocaine shortly before our third son was conceived. I did not know this. I though I would have the perfect child, since I didn't drink nor use drugs. My son has schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder, as well as major depression. He has been in and out of the state hospital. It has been very devastating to myself and his siblings. My husband left after 35 years of marriage (thank God).

Facts
I'm sorry but I really think some of you need to be realistic about the amount of people that occasionally do drugs such as cocaine. People that don't use other drugs, people that aren't addicted or on crack! I'm not condoning it I'm just saying that there are people out there that do it every now and then and it's quite possible that her boyfriend is one of these people but is still a good person! I think it would be more worthwhile if you could give her some factual advice about the effects so she and her boyfriend can make informed decisions.

cOCAINE USAGE
Hi. My husband is addicted to cocaine. I have learned the following and hope that it will be useful. Cocaine is a drug that alters a persons emotions and personality. They will say and do things they wont normally do and say. It is an illness, if you are married to someone, you made a promise to stand by them for better or worse. Getting angry doesn't help anything, your partner needs help urgently. Try to love him and treat him as a normal person and get him help even if you have to get a court order. The chances of relaps is there. However, if he still refuses help after several times and you do have kids, do what is best for your children and find someone who can help your husband. If you are not married to the person, try to help him, but do not be in a personal relationship with him. He is still a person with hopes, dreams and feelings, he is just on the wrong track. Someone once said also, if someone is not after God's heart, he cannot come after my heart.

I used cocaine and my baby was born with a terrible brain malformation. I used it the day it was conceived. I don't know if this is the case but now I have to care for my chile for the rest of my life. God please forgive me. I would put an end to my life if that could save my child. But having to live through this is worst than death. However, I love my child and will do everything I can and more to pay for my mistake.
Please do not do drugs if you are trying to conceive... it's not worth it

I am 37yrs. I've been only with one man. I had intimacy with him for my first time last year.Yesterday we had intimacy with out protection for the fist time. Today he confessed to me that he had used cocaine earlier. My main concern is if we did conceive how it would affect the baby. I am ovulating so there is a possibility of a pregnancy. I've desired a baby with all my heart for a while but right now I am very scared for I do not know how much cocaine would affect his sperm. If there is anyone out there with medical education could you please give me a bit of information? Thank you all!

cocaine and sperm
Using cocaine every day has physical effects on the body. Using cocaine one off will not. Sperm takes 75 days to produce - using coke regularly throughout this period would harm the sperm quality. Using once on the day of conception would not.
Addiction and partying are 2 different things. Wait 3 months have your baby tested - if brain development is normal then have the baby, if it is not then have an abortion.

Drugged out sperm causes problems for baby
My husband was a cocaine user when I conceived both of my children(marijuana, cocaine, and alcohol-all together) I was somehow not aware of this! My two children ages 8 & 5, have mental issues. My son in high functioning autism, and my daughter has extra teeth, a heart murmur, urinary problems, and has a form of bipolar/narcissism. It has been a rough road for me these past 13 years. I wish I never created a life with this person. It has given me so many crosses to bear. I love him, but I am at the point where I need to walk away.
