oh no! That's really tough. I believe that something may have induced that anxiety. It could be trauma. However there is plenty of hope for you yet! I learned this the hard way. What we want is it to get better, not worse.
A way to do this is prayer as you mentioned. Meditation which can be done with open eyes. Then of course there is practicing your communication so that you will feel at ease and comfortable around people. Distractions such as exercise, crafts, music are all very good. Talk about what you are going through so that you may gain insight from others.
You are definitely on the right track. However I'm not sure about the COAXIL because it doesn't treat an attack when it is happening. The drug that I would recommend is an anti-anxiety medicine called Ativan. It is taken in very small dosages of only one or two milligrams. If your heart is racing you are having a panic attack and the Ativan slows it down. It is prescribed as needed. Talk to your doctor.
Congratulations on quitting smoking. Also, stay away from the coffee and drink tea instead.
All tea is good. The ones with a calming effect are Celestial Seasons: Chamomile. Sleepy Time Extra before bed. And Madigascar (Vanilla Roobioos)
They are extremely stimulating and very relaxing.
