My father is 71 years of age, his WBC count is around 50,000 and Haemoglobin decreases, a test for BCR-ABL has been found NEGATIVE. He has no fever,or skin eruptions but only fatigue. Is there any possibility of Leukemia? If so, is it curable at this age? Please reply.

Based upon the information that you have provided, I would be concerned about the possibility of leukemia, or of some other bone marrow abnormality.

He should be evaluated by a Hematologist/Oncologist, and he may need to undergo a bone marrow biopsy (an outpatient procedure) in order to make an accurate diagnosis.

Different types of leukemias have different treatments, and the prognosis for each type of leukemia is different as well.
