For the past last year I’ve been suffering from what I think are panic attacks. I’d be happy and laughing one minute and the next feel dizzy, cloudy and disoriented. The attacks last up to an hour, going through stages, 1st the cloudiness and not being able to focus clearly, 2nd unable to control my breathing pattern 3rd pins and needles in my hand which travels up my arm into my eye and mouth. During my last attack I actually feared I might swallow my tongue (how silly is that). I could cry for hours afterward and may have a headache for up to day afterwards. I have been proscribed Diazepam but only use them when I’m midst an attack which takes a half hour to kick in. I have been referred to a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist on the NHS but that was a year ago and I’m still waiting. My question is, are these definitely panic attacks and not something physical?
