Hello,

Some of this may sound gross, I apologize in advanced :0) About 5 weeks ago I began to feel extreme stabbing pain in the clitoris. I couldn't walk or sit down. I took a mirror and noticed white patches around my labia and some patches underneath the hood of the clitoris. I went to a clinic and the nurse told me it was an yeast infection, although I didn't have excruciating itching or "cottage cheese" discharge - just dryness, pain and SERIOUS fatigue. So for about 4 weeks I have been treating the yeast infection with natural means (acidophilus etc) and Nystatin ointment. Now it seems like the yeast infection has subsided, and to a certain extent so has the pain...

However, the clitoris is still very much swollen, and almost feels like it's constantly aroused/erect. I even feel it pulsating from time to time. It hurts if I touch it (which makes it a pain to clean) but if I do nothing throughout the day (just lounge) it doesn't hurt as much. If I move around a lot, such as exercise or spend a day out (basic chores) - the next day I can barely move without it "prickling."

Could it be that the yeast infection/candida blew up on me, and now it's considered a severe case, or is this something else completely? I found it odd that I didn't have the traditional yeast infection symptoms, although I fit the "cause" profile for the week prior to all this problems: high stress, high sugar, tight underwear. I considered clitoral hood infection as well. Has anyone else experienced this, and how long did it take to go away? I have noticed a considerable difference from 2 weeks ago, but it seems to be lingering.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

L.M

By the way, I am currently NOT sexually active, and have not been for a year - last year's tests came back negative for all STD's.

i was going to say you should get tested for STD's but i just noticed the last sentance!

do you do alot of excersise? or spin class, ive just started doing spin classes on the bike and my hole private area is throbbing a bit like what you have told me! so i know mines is because of that?

Your docter doesnt sound to good tbh, infact i have the same problem with mine. you should just go back to her/him and insist this is MORE than a yeast infection and you would like to get more tests done. They cant refuse you know!?
It might not be something big but it sure hell sounds uncomfortable!!
Go back to your docter asap

I have a similar issue. I am 32 weeks pregnant. I spent two days on my feet, out in the heat, for longer than usual and the next morning my labia was swollen and tender. My clitoris also was itchy and pulsing like yours. I called my doctor and they said to put an ice pack on it. Since I had no weird discharge or foul odor, the nurse thought it was likely a fluid drainage issue. She said the swelling could be causing the tissues to stretch and itch. So I am using Monistat itch cream on the clitoral area and I had to sit on an icy washcloth to get the labia to go down. I am much better today. So try ice, elevated feet, and itch cream and see if that helps. If no, talk to your Dr. in case it is an oddly presenting yeast infection.

second opinion?
It is important that your Dr. takes a swab of your vagina upon your return visit. Many things are often missed when the Doctor simply assumes. If you have been having this uncomfortable feeling for this long you deserve another explanation or treatment. I too did a spin class for the first time last week and am having soreness and pulsing, have you done anything different that could have irritated it? Good luck to you..I'm sure you're going to be fine.
