Clindamycin and depression
Posted: 07-25-08 08:22am

My father got sick in April 2008 and died 7/3/2008 from CJD. Right after he got sick, I started having physical symptoms as listed above.
Worried about having fatal disease, worried about being tired all the time.
Was OK before dad got sick, so I would hope that I should be OK after he's gone (if it's anxiety), but I'm not getting better, things seems to be getting worse.
Could the antibiotics be making me so tired?
Does this sound like grief/depression?

Current medical status: Physical symptoms: Had but went away: Lump in throat feeling (4/1/08/5/1/08). Headache - have had for 10 weeks now. Neck pain, 1 wk numbness/tingling in hands, arms, feet, legs on and off since 4/1/2008 hot flashes in thigh area sweat alot, very easily 10 days ago had dental abscess. Prescribed Clindamycin, took last pill yesterday since about 10 days ago, I am exhausted. Sleep 6-8 hrs, but wake up very tired. Exhausted most of day, but generally get better towards bed time. Docs did CT on my throat, was clear. Docs did blood work: kidney's OK, liver OK, blood count OK, no signs of cancer in blood. No brain scans/eeg's performed.
Current medical treatment: Diagnosed with anxiety in beginning of June. Prescribed 20mg Celexa/day. Took for 5 days, but quit it. Made insomnia worse, "anxiety" attacks worse.

There are no data that clindamycin causes tiredness as a side effect.
According to all those medical test negative results your symptoms could be due to depression.
You may want to consult a mental health professional about your problem.
