Q: Chronic stress induced depression

Is it possible that i could be depressed because i never used to be this way till i got really sick last year with what we thought was mono but turned out not to be? I have had some stressfull situations lately as well could it maybe be stress instead of depression?

Given the data you provided, you might be experiencing depression caused by chronic stress. Certain people are more vulnerable to stress than others. Whether stress itself can cause depression is still not quite clear, but stress combined with specific temperament can definitely induce depression-like symptoms. Stress is not only mental. The long illness you mentioned above might have contributed to it as well.


You might want to try relaxations techniques: deep breathing, yoga, or visualization. If it does not help, you might want to ask for professional help from a psychiatrist.
