Chronic sore throat and ear pain
Posted: 05-17-08 09:41am

For the past 2 1/2 months I have had a sore throat that will just not go away. The pain ranges, on the good days, from mild to severe. It is fine(no pain) in the morning and from there gets progressively worse. It starts on the right side of my throat and as the day goes on it spreads to the left. By night the pain has started to radiate to my ears, usually the right having the more significant pain. I have trouble sleeping and eating because of the pain and like I said, by morning it is fine but then continues it's normal phase through the rest of the day. I have been to my GP several times and have had strep tests done with results coming back negative and also when she looked in my throat saw nothing. I also ended up in urgent care because the pian got so severe I couldn't talk and it was extremely painful to swallow. It had felt like I was punched repeatedly in the throat, it actually gets painful to touch my throat. The lymphs nodes in my throat at times are swollen, but not all the time. I have tried everything I can think of, pain medications, benedryl, salt gargle and changing my toothbrush. I have seen some of the same symptoms on other posts, but like those I do not have acid reflux. Also I do not drink and neither my husband or myself smoke. This is really starting to wear on me so any help would be greatly appreciated.
