I am a 22 year old female. I was a heavy drinker for 4 years and i developed abdominal pain 2 years into my drinking. My doctor assumed i had a stomach ulcer and gave me treatment for that. After increasing pain i returned to my gp and tests where finally taken. She then diagnosed me with acute pancreatitis and sent me to hospital (07.10). I later found out in hospital that i had chronic pancreatitis and after an endoscopy there was no sign of an ulcer. so the pain i was experiencing for nearly a year were all due to my pancreas. After an ultrasound and a CT scan they discovered 2 cysts on was 7 cm and the other 3.5. On my follow up scan a month later they had decreased considerably in size and my amylase levels where going back to normal, they had been at 500 then 300 for a long time.
Since finding out about this i quit drinking completely and watched my diet very strictly. I now feel very well, the best i have in years actually. I live a very healthy lifestyle and work hard.
I guess what i am wondering is a pint now and again and i mean a pint, would it harm me drinking socially? Or what effect will it have on me? Being so young and now healthy wouldn't my body be able to cope? I have no intention of drinking regularly.
Probally a stupid question but worth a try.
Thanks
