Hi...today have been diagnosed with chronic neuralgia after months of suffering facial pain. have had camera up nose and brain and sinus scans which ruled out sinus problems.

Cannot find a condition called 'chronic neuralgia'on net only trimingal(sp!) which the doc assures me i am not suffering with as my pain is constant and doesnt respond to touch.

I have been given amitriptyline tablets to take in a low doseage to help with this problem.

Can anyone give me info on this condition and how well i am likely to respond to the tablets...thanks

Hope this helps...
I don't have personal experience with neuralgia, but you can take a look at the following link...

And also...Interestingly enough, Amitriptyline is an anti-depressant

Hope that helps Wink

neuralgia pain
amitriptaline is a very good way of managing the pain long term, as well as tramol can be for sudden strong neuralgia pain short term.

A simple way to instantly stop the sharpest of pain is a good old heat pack, put into the microwave, rest on your face and try to breathe deeply, you will find this works wonders
