A friend has been experiencing chronic vomitting and diarrhea over the past 6 days, which makes it almost a week.

She appeared to have food poisoning on the first day, and then on the days after, the symptoms kept recurring, and there has been little signs of improvement since.

Other symptoms at the moment include light-headedness which has also persisted throughout the duration. The only time she feels better is in the evenings. Sometimes the lightheadedness sets in before or after she sleeps.

She already went for a checkup with the local GP, but he diagnosed it as a case of over-stess, while another traditional physician also prescribed some traditional herbs for treatment. While this is probably true, but I don't think it would normally last this long.

I'm currently trying to figure out if there are any related causes to this,as it has been dragging for almost a week now, and its going to be pretty bad it it continues like this, as she has been unable to take much food, after which it is usually rejected by the body. Her current diet consists mainly of fruits and vegetables for the past few days, in very small amounts.

Generally speaking, before this she used to suffer from a lack of sleep, and also heavy stress and depression from the workplace, and it may be a possibility that the extended duration may be due to her weaker physical condition, though I believe there should at least be signs of improvement by now.

I'm trying to find out what may have caused the poor recovery, as well as some suggestions to what can be done to help improve the recovery process. . . As of now, it appears that she has not taken much of the dehydration salts after each discharge, but she is drinking a reasonable amount of water daily.
