Q: Chronic mild abdominal pain

Over the last 6 weeks, I have had mild intermittent (no more than a minute or two) abdominal pain. Sometimes it seems like the muscle, but I am not sure. I seem to get this a few times a day and it does not impact any of my eating. One change over the last three months has been that I have been doing abdominal crunches with increased weights. I have not stopped exercising, although I have stopped doing crunches. I also have a very small pea size lump that can only be felt under the skin on the upper right abdomen. It is soft and does not hurt and it is not visible with the naked eye. I also have a very small lump on my outer thigh - which I have had for years and which has not grown in size or shape. It is small, round and soft as well.

The pain is near the navel and sometimes in the mid section and sometimes on the sides - but it is not consistently in one area.

It is probably muscular pain due to working out. All of the muscles in your back, side, chest, and abdomen are connected, which is why pain can radiate around there so much. Try resting for a couple of days without working out and take some over-the-counter pain meds if you need to. If it doesn't get better in a week or so, go to the doctor.

You probably should see the doctor about those lumps anyway.

A lump in the abdomen after working out can also be a hernia. You really should see a doctor just to rule it out.

hello and welcome. many years ago when i was an active workaholic i used to keep fit.
I say used to be as for three years have suffered a prolapsed disc through overworking my back.
I used to do the sit ups as being a woman didn,t want the sausage roll around my middle and liked a flat tummy.
I pulled muscles and wow was i in agony and seen my doctor and he said i had to rest for two weeks and prescribed anti inflammatories.
get it checked out and hopefully you be working out again before you know it.

good luck.
