Q: Chronic gall bladder inflammation
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 14th, 2008
I had a gallbladder attack 5 days ago. Since then I have a stabbing pain in my mid back right side. The pain will actually make me stop and yell in pain, but it only last seconds (I am usually pretty tough so the yelling in out of the norm for me)

Current medical status: emergency room for gallbladder..cat scan done gall bladder was constricted, no stone visible. Has not hurt in the last 5 days since er visit

The pain might be due to chronic inflammation of the gallbladder. If the pain lasts longer, analgesics might temporarily relief it. To stop the pain for certain, treatment for the gallbladder inflammation would be needed. The most frequent cause for the inflammation are gallbladder stones, so another imaging technique (ultrasound, for example) might reveal them and make the surgery necessary.
