Very long story but I began, what I thought was a post nasal drip problem, almost 2years ago which eventually progressed into worsening and now chronic symptoms. I have chronic dry mouth and throat and the *tissue* of my mouth, throat and tongue don't feel *right*. I would say I have difficulty swallowing, however, I can swallow but have had a feeling of a lump, esp on the left side of my throat and now it is chronic. I have seen ENT docs, rheumatologist, GI doc, neurologist and an oncologist and no definitive diagnosis. I am now developing stomach problems(pain, gas and bloating with a feeling of nausea) and how have a lower GI scheduled for tomorrow. Whatever I *don't* have is not chronic and getting worse, esp the dry mouth/throat/tongue. Have had scopes, colonoscopy, endoscopy, CT scans of chest and abdomen, numerous blood tests, thyroid biopsy, tongue and throat biopsies and a salivary gland biospy for Sjorgens, which was negative. This is absolutely ruining my quality of life. Add to that a 40-45 lb weight loss about a year or so ago and having a hard time maintaining my weight now. New doctor ordered stool samples, which I took in today.
Some of these symptoms started about May, 2007 and some weight loss. I am no novice to surgeries but had a bilateral oopherectomy in Nov. 2007 (laprascopic) and had major problems with stomach pain (not the surgery site)for at least 3 weeks post-surgery,resulting in more weight loss. Doctor gave me phenegran, which dried me out so bad, I couldn't swallow at all. Put me on Reglan they had to stop due to aggitation and tremors.
Doctors are stumped. Not sure why all this stomach discomfort and cramping lately. What makes me almost a recluse anymore is the chronic mouth and throat problems. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. This is not caused by stress. I've been on Prozac for a while and now take Nexium. Nothing the doctors prescribe has helped.
