I am currently taking lexo pills for my thyroid condition and for the last year 2 years I have been having chronic diarrhea. I finally found out that I am lactose intolerant and I've made some modifications to my diet. Recently I have received a note from my doctor telling me to go to the gastro doctor because I have a small intestinal bowel infection. I have been taking pepto at least 3 times a week, sometimes mylanta, other times rolaids. I do this to prevent any gas, bloating and stomach pain that comes with the diarrhea. I started taking cuturelle (a probiotic) which was working for about a week but I'm back to the diarrhea. I also use peppermint tea, and Yogi tea (stomach ease) kind. My concern is that I am damaging my digestive system by using all of these over the counter drugs. Does anyone have any idea what type of damage I am causing myself by stopping the diarrhea w/over the counter meds. What will this specialist do to stop this chronic problem. Is there any nautral drugs to take to eliminate the problem until I see him in another week?

Thanks,
