(asking
this on behalf of a friend, and no I'm not
just saying that)
She's 15, and nearly every day she gets an
episode of stabbing pains in her chest,
right in the center of her chest.
(I showed her a
diagram of the circulatory system and she
said it's right where the "arch of the
aorta" is)
She has a nerve disorder (CMT, aka HMSN,
type 1A), which causes her some pain, and
that's part of the problem: every time
she sees a doctor about
anything, they blame it on
the CMT and maybe give her pain medicine
for nerve pains (which rarely work too
well).
Is there
any chance that the pains are
caused by anything other than the nerve
condition? I assume she's too young to
worry about it being a problem with her
heart or aorta or anything like that. The
pains just come on suddenly &
spontaneously.
Any suggestions for things to ask the
doctor to look into?
