when most people think of childhood cancers they think of acute... not always the case. about 7 years ago now i myself was 10 years old and i had a rare form of cancer in kids but seen in senior citizen men the cancer is called chronic meylomonisitc leukimea or CMML at the time only about 100 kids in the nation had been dianosed, because senior men they mainly treat only their symptoms becaucse of their age there was NO protocol for treatment... i ended up going through experimental treatments.. the treatments were strong chemos and a bone marrow transplant... i am doing ok i am alive a junior in high school doing college classes.. but i have had several side affects and a few scares that my cancer may off come back.. just remember that even if your child or a child close to you has cancer possiably to have the doctors check for the chronic kinds to even though it is really rare i am really lucky that my dad went to pre- med school and knew that it was a possiblity... other wise i would not be here.. i know that there is no treatment but if a child you know gets a chronic cancer at least have them go through experimental treatment they maybe lucky like me and live if not they will help some on else in the future no matter what...
