I've had acne for 6 years so I have the constant "inflammation-and-then-healing" process going on for 6 years at the same spot (i.e. my cheeks). Can this cause skin cancer??

Chronic acne aren't directly related with greater risk for skin cancer.
However, skin with acne is more sensitive to sun damages that is linked with risk of skin cancer.
Certain drugs used to treat acne like Roaccutane or some antibiotics make skin much more sensitive to the sun's rays.
Some topical creams or lotions for acne containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or fruit acids, can also increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun.
It is important to use high sun protection cream, and hat, or to avoid period of day when the sun rays are most intensive.
If you use creams with AHAs, used them only during winter moths, when the sun light is with low intensity.

If your acne is that bad, go see a dermatologist. There are some wonderful treatments out there that can either clear your acne or at least reduce it. It isn't something you should have to suffer with.
