Our son, who suffers from multiple food allergies and mild viral induced asthma, recently developed eczema and cholinergic urticaria at the age of 10. During the year preceding this onset, his TOTAL serum IgE increased significantly from 700 to 10,000 kU/L. Since the IgE values increased prior to the onset of the cholinergic urticaria and eczema, is it possible that the high IgE value could be the actual cause of the cu? If so, is the cholinergic urticaria likely to resolve if the IgE value decreases?
