If these bumps are yellow, soft and form eyelids plaques, it is very likely to be cholesterol deposits or xanthelasma.
They occur most commonly near the inner corner of the eyelid, more often on the upper lid than the lower lid.
All four lids are usually affected symmetrically.
They do not affect the function of the eyelids, but dropped eyelids has been known to occur.
Approximately one half of individuals with xanthelasma have a lipid disorder (high triglycerides levels, lipoprotein lipase deficiency, low HDL cholesterol levels).
These plagues are associated with the following conditions diabetes, menopause, primary biliary cirrhosis, too.
In most of the cases, xanthelasma are harmless and of aesthetic concern only.
There are numerous options for removal of xanthelasma, including including surgical excision, argon and carbon dioxide laser ablation, chemical cauterization, electrodesiccation, and cryotherapy.
Best wishes!
