I had my gall bladder removed 1 1/2 years
ago, and I still continue to have
cholecystitis--like symptoms. sometimes
to the point that I have to talk myself
out of going to the emergency room from
the pain. My family doctor knows all
about my symptoms and says that I probably
just have gas or my body has not yet
adjusted to functioning without a
gallbladder.
I have sporadic bouts of diarrhea,
sometimes for a day or two, accompanied by
the sharp pinching pain I had before my
gallbladder removal, to periods where I
have symptoms for a week or better, mostly
after meals, more often in the evening.
The diarrhea aspect is disconcerting
because it is yellow-brown and looks very
fatty, almost like melted butter, sorry
for the visual. It can be as often as
8-10 times a day, almost immediately after
a meal. If I don't find a bathroom within
10 minutes after eating, sometimes even
before I have left the table, I am almost
guaranteed to have an accident.
As you can imagine, I have stopped
eating at restaurants, and I try to
refrain from eating anywhere other than
home. It has all become a nightmare, and
there just seems to be no one with an
explanation.
Cramps from impending bowel
movements, anxiety at meal time, and
severe pain in my URQ are ever-present,
just a normal part of my day. I have
almost reached the point where I have
given up hope of ever feeling well again.
Knowing that several people here are
probably more versed in these matters than
I am makes me feel at least a bit hopeful
that I may have a new idea to present to
my doctor next time I see him, but it has
begun to feel like he has stopped being
concerned with this and sees it more as me
just complaining. I wish I could find
another doctor, but with insurance the way
it is, that is nearly impossible, and I
fear winding up with a physician who is
less concerned than the one I have now.
Sorry for the length of this, it is
just good to know that someone may be able
to help, and everyone I know has probably
become bored of my complaining about it,
so it's nice to vent.
Thank you in advance for any advice
you may have to offer, and good tidings!
