Q: chlorinated water and gout ?

I read long ago that chlorine was very bad for gout and I have avoided it for some time now by only drinking spring water from my local mountains. I actually drive up and collect the water in 5 gal jugs and have done so for years now.
I am convinced that this water is better for my gout than city tap water but I could be wrong.

I prefer spring or well water
I do not have totally convincing evidence, but I have now noticed twice a difference in my general level of comfort and flexibility after vacationing at my in-laws' cabin where all I drink is well water. The water is alkaline and it probably helps with the Ph level in my body.

Chlorinate or not to chlorinate is NOT the question...
If your water is chlorinated ( typically city water) is not the question we should be asking....

What we should be asking is Acidic or Alkaline ... THAT is the question....

I wrote the other day the no matter how much water I drink, my gout does not get better.... That is because my TAP water (chlorinated) - city of philadelphia - has a PH of 6.0 - to 6.25.... ACIDIC

No wonder why it did not help.... So I added a pinch of baking soda.... JUST a pinch.... that brought the water to 7.5 .... just alkaline....

I would suggest you get some litlus paper or PH stix from ph-ion.com and test your water...

Hope this helps!
