I've had sciatic pain for over month, and after a handful of chiropractic adjustments, regular visits to the gym, yoga, hot baths, heat patches.... The pain has persisted, or worsened. X-rays showed scoliosis, not severe by any means I can guess, having seen the x-rays. I also sprained something when I sneezed the other day apparently, which is what made it worse. Anyway, long-winded I know, but I'm trying not to be scared by the curve in my spine, and the issues it has caused. I am 33 and have not had any chronic problems over the years, so does anyone have experience, or advice with this kind of news? I'd love to trust that some weekly or biweekly adjustments and using ice as he told me to can help straighten things a bit and relieve my pain. At this point it is very hard to walk or even sit upright comfortably. I'd love to get back to the gym, and feeling like myself.

Hi mohara chiropractors are trained to deal with scoliosis, but it seems that often it is difficult for them or anyone else to get it to go away, Your age and how severe the scoliosis is are also factors.

You should notice a definite improvement pretty quickly, if you have been going to the chiro for months, and there is not much improvement, and he is saying it will take time its probably not very promising, you should not have to go to the chiro 3 times a week for months it should really improve, some would say give the chiropractor away, but i would say try and find another chiropractor who can deal with this.

have you ever injured your feet or legs?

hm, I see now you have scoliosis too, like I do... (mine is very mild too, 8-10 degrees or less..) Plus, I have some (hyper-)lordosis of the neck & back, which contributed to the pain..

Do check both sites I posted in your other thread... & do check what I wrote in the scoliosis thread started by someone else...

I printed out articles from both sites & underlined the most important things Smile Am also contemplating ordering a few books recommended...

I was terrified of it all in the winter (had huge pain in/after New Year's holidays & eating badly! plus all the stress etc), but things have definitely improved...

I never saw a chiropractor, cause I wasn't sure if they could help... I googled a bit on scoliosis & it seems that some may know how to help, & some not... The ctds.info site gives further links to possibly helpful treatments for scolio etc. (like Bowen therapy etc)
