One question - have both your son's testicles descended? If a baby's testicle has not descended in the first 6 months, the boy should undergo evaluation by a pediatric specialist and treatment if the condition is confirmed b/c it can lead to infertility or other medical problems.
In some boys, the testes may experience retractile testes. This is a normal condition where the testes are in the scrotum but temporarily retract or pull back up into the groin. There is no need to treat a retractile testicle, since it is a normal condition, but it may require examination to confirm that it is not undescended testicle.
You should continue to seek medical attention for lumps, redness, pain or other changes in the testicles. If the first doctor that you saw did not help, I suggest that you look fro a second opinion. Testicles can get inflamed or infected or can collect fluid in the scrotum around the testicle (hydrocele).
