Q: Chest Xray

Hi
I was told today at the hospital xray room, that if you wear a lead apron over/around your abdomen while having a chest xray, it will make the radiation exposure to the abdomen more as any downward rays would be reflected back into the abdomen by the lead apron. Is this true?
