hi i am a 19 year old female and i had the sudden onset of chest pains that came on in about 1/2 an hour. I only have to take a shallow breath and it hurts my right lung and the upper part of my back. I am a smoker and have been for a little over 2 years.

I am wondering whether i need to go and see a doctor?

Chest pains with every breath accompanied with upper back pain, could be due to lung infection (pneumonia) that has involved a part of the lung lining (pleura), or you may have only infection of your pleura (pleurisy).

As a smoker you are at greater risk for frequent lung infections!
See your physician!
