Q: Chest pain caused by anxiety ?

I'm a 30 yr. old female who has been having constant chest pain for 2 months. It all started after lots of anxiety, tension and back/neck pain. I've had 2 normal EKG's normal exercising EKG normal resting echo, normal treadmill test and normal echo after exercise but this chest pain will not go away. Usually if I lay down on a heating pad it feels a lot better b/c I feel like a lot of the pain is coming from my upper back and shoulders and radiating down is this possible? My dr. keeps saying anxiety and I feel he's done everything to make sure I'm okay I have no risk factors for heart disease so should I not be as concerned.

Thanks

Extremely eHealthy
Back and chest pain is often closely related.
Injuries or degenerative conditions in the middle and upper back can also cause pain in the chest area.
Severe back muscle strain and muscle pain in the back or shoulder can cause heaviness and pain in the upper chest, too.
It is a good idea to get your spinal column examined with imaging techniques, checking for spinal stenosis, herniated disc, bone spur formation.
Anxiety and stress can lead to chest pains, too!

Best wishes!

thanks for the reply....alhtough I do think some of my problem has been anxiety related I do believe a lot of it is back and shoulder related maybe a pinched nerve who knows. I know that this week I have felt a whole lot better though!

but do you also agree with the test I have that mostly cardiac problems are ruled out as well like my dr. has said?
