Chest pain and trouble breathing while getting ready...

User Profile
My 9 year old son in the past year was sent to a heart specialist bacause he has a heart murmur. And he was having a racing heart. It felt like it was going to race right out of his chest sometimes, well the specialist brushed it off and now a yr later he is having chest pain and trouble breathing while hes getting ready for bed and waking up with stomach aches. His Dr seems to think its heart burn and easily prescribed Zantec, but I just don't feel like they are really taking this serious.. Should I get 2ed opinions?

Hello, and thanks for your medical question on eHealthForum.

Based on the history, additional information is needed regarding the cause of the heart murmur. The presence of heart racing, difficulty breathing and chest discomfort could be due to many conditions related to the lung or the heart.
Though heart burn can cause chest discomfort other important causes like childhood asthma, etc has to be ruled out. You may consider to consult a pediatrician who can examine your son and do relevant tests like a Chest X-ray and an Echo cardiogram to diagnose the current condition and initiate necessary treatment.

I hope this helps.
