Chest Heaviness - Head pressure
Posted: 04-14-08 04:44am

Hello,

Im 22 and eat hea;thy, dont smoke, dont really drink and dont have tea or coffee. 10 days ago i was playing badminton and 50 mins into it I had to sit out for 5 minutes because my heart was beating really fast and i became light headed. After 5 minutes i got up and carried on playing.

Ever since then i have had a dull heaviness in my chest and recently my head has been feeling quite pressurised. There is no pain in the chest, but sometimes when i focus quite hard or sometimes after i eat, I become a little light headed.

Does anyone know whats happening?? I had an ECG and the results came back not quite normal and I am going for an Ecco tomorrow to look at the structure at the heart. Does anyone know of a virus that might be causing this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Myocarditis
Posted: 04-15-08 09:00am

Some viral infections (Coxsackie, Influenca, Enteroviruses, Parvovirus, Adenoviruses, CMV...) can cause myocarditis (heart muscle inflammation) that can be manifested with chest pain, heart rhythm irregularity (beside other symptoms), hard breathing... Miocarditis can be also caused by other infections (Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Borelia, Streptococcus...) and autoimmune disease.
Can you tell me precisely what was the ECG-report?
What were the laboratory results for ALT, AST, LDH, CP-MB, troponin...?
Echo-cardiography and chest X-ray image can be requested for precise diagnosis.
