I am hoping that if I put this out there maybe I can give my doctor a little more to go on. Here is my story in the last 3 months.

I went to the doctor at the end of April for a cough that had lasted a little too long. She diagnosed me with bronchitisis and had me start taking prednisone. I took for a couple days and then had what I thought at the time was a reaction to it. My left foot/ankle started to swell. I contacted both the pharmacy and my doctor and they both stated that it is possible for this to happen. My doctor said that if it was bothering me that I could stop the medication which I did because the swelling was uncomfortable. The swelling did finally go down but that is about when other strange things started happening.

I was having a hard time lying down with out having a strange sensation in my upper chest/throat area. Kind of like a knot in my throat. I went back to the doctor with this information and they still thought it was bronchitisis. She then prescribed Symbicor. I took these for several day's again and was still having the same issues. I had one night that was so bad I ended up going to the emergancy room. They checked out my heart with an EKG and checked my oxygen levels and all checked out normal.

At this point I have seeked a second opinion. I had a physical a little over a week ago and this is what they checked and all appeared to be normal.

Diabetes
Thyroid
Cholestrol
Blood Pressure

Also while speaking to the doctor we found that I do have a little problem with indigestion which I have been taking Prilosec for and it has helped with that but I am still experiacing the same issues.

These are a list of the symptoms I have been having:

Strange sensation in upper chest/throat area (made worse when lying down)
numbness in arms and jaw area (made worse when lying down)
swelling in left leg
cough still present

I am not sure this could be a circulation issues or a nervous issue but I am thinking at this point those are the only two things that havn't totally been checked out. Any advise you could help me in giving my doctor would be appreciated greatly.

Extremely eHealthy
One sided swelling of leg, especially foot and ankle, can be a symptom of deep venous thrombosis, or blood vessel blockage due to a blood clot.
Venous insufficiency can cause the same problem.
Another possible cause are ankle injuries.
Constant coughing for longer period, and feeling of lump in the throat, are symptoms of GERD, or acid reflux, but, not common ones.
Numbness in arms and jaw area could be addressed to TMJ disorder.
Actually, a misaligned bite (characteristic for TMJ syndrome) can cause the muscles throughout the jaw, face, neck and shoulders to go into spasm. When these muscles (scalenus) are in spasm they can pinch the nerves (brachial plexus of nerves) leading down the arms and into the hands, which in turn results in feelings of numbness or tingling.

Best wishes!
