Q: Chemo Side Effects

My Mother's hair has started to fall out now (has been 2 weeks since first chemo treatment) and her head is very sore/tender to the touch. Will the tenderness of her head be on-going or is it just during the period that her hair is coming out? Also, she tolerated her first treatment really well, she didn't get sick at all and has been eating normal. Is this a good sign she will continue to tolerate it well or are the side effects just going to get increasingly worse with each treatment? She is on Carboplaten & Taxiter once every 3 weeks.

Side effects of chemotherapy are more severe with higher doses and increase over the course of treatment.
They can be reduced by giving the drugs for shorter durations, and, when present they can be controlled with other drugs.
Losing hair (temporary), diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, mouth ulcers, fatigue, depression, anemia, increased chances of getting infections are common side effects.

Thanks for the response. What about her head being sore & tender to the touch? Will that be on-going?

Normal cells usually recover when chemotherapy is over, so most side effects gradually go away after treatment ends, and the healthy cells have a chance to grow normally.
Many people say their head becomes sensitive before losing hair.
Sometimes, hair can grow back between treatments.

Chemo therapy..
Same situation is with my nephew when he was 3 yrs old gotted brain cancer disease..he has also lost his hair and his left eye, hand, leg effected as well.
Now he is getting regular medicines but not in well condition...Its really true that hair loss during chemo therapy is disadvantage of it...
