Can a chemical imbalance affect the results of a pregnancy test? When I was younger I was diagnosed as manic and I was also told that I have P.C.O.S and so I was wondering if the combination of those things can affect the way my body or the test reads weather or not it's pregnant. The reason I ask is because the other morning when walking into my kitchen i felt nausea and then blew chunks. I hardly ever get sick like that and it came upon me all the sudden. So I went and bought a pregnancy test but it came out negative. But I still wonder if it''s possible that I could be pregnant. Any advice?

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out. I’ll suggest doing a serum pregnancy test also and in case that’s also negative, then the possibility of pregnancy is not there. PCOS can also give rise to the symptoms which you are suffering from. However, other causes like an acute gastritis can also produce similar symptoms. I’ll also suggest getting an ultrasound of the uterus & pelvis to look for any other cause of these symptoms. Please do consult a gynaecologist as it’s not possible to make an online diagnosis.
