The clitoris might look swollen when there is an increase in the blood concentration of male sex hormones.

It is also normal for your clitoris to be a little bigger than usual if there was sexual foreplay that did not end completely. This might leave your clitoris with an increased blood flow. However, this particular condition is temporary (mostly a couple of days).

Please note that both male and female hormones are produced in the body, no matter which sex the patient actually is. However, the production of hormones for the actual sex is much higher than the one for the opposite sex. That would mean that in females both female and male hormones are produced. But, the production of male hormones is a lot less than the production of female hormones. A slight shift in this delicate balance might trigger symptoms such as the one you reported.

You might want to visit your gynecologist to check both female and male sex hormone levels. If there is a raise in the male sex hormones adequate medications that would block their production or their effect might be prescribed.
