The day we have all been waiting for
finally came. Sunday morning we made the
trip to Albany NY to check my daughter
into a rehabilitation center. The weather
was fierce here, but we made our way. It
took 4 hours. She slept all the way until
we got to a store just a few miles away
from the center. I shopped for some things
for her stay while she went into the
bathroom and jacked herself up one more
time.
I just acted like nothing was going on,
but i knew what she was up to. She can not
have any communication with any one for
the first 5 days. After that, she starts a
strict program with counselors. This is
day 2 of her detox. I know she doesn't
feel well now, but this is just the
beginning.
Just to let people know who feel hopeless.
There are places out there to help. I had
wonderful sensitive communications with
people from the rehab. Every one is very
understanding and helpful. We managed to
get this stay funded as well.
All any one has to do is pick up the phone
and call around. That is what we did. I
just hope that this is the answer. She
will stay 40 days, and will be evaluated
weekly. When she gets out, she will have a
strict out patient plan that she will
follow. She has got to loose all the
"friends" she has now. She must also quit
her job and find another. I am just so
happy and relieved that she is safe now,
and getting the care she needs. I will
make the trip this weekend to visit her. 4
hours one way is a long drive every
weekend, but i would drive to the moon for
her. It is not to much to ask of me
considering everything that she has to go
through.

I can only imagine what you are going
through, but I praise you for having the
strength for going through it and sticking
with it.
My parents had to go through it with me
years ago, and I can honestly say that
rehab and my parents and their commitment
to my recovery saved my life.
I hope she stays clean. WHat was she in
for if you dont mind me asking?

She is addicted to heroin, cocaine,
oxycontin. A year ago, it was morphine.
Her ex boyfriend WAS a Pharmacist. He had
access to a lot of drugs. When a cancer
patient would pass away, he would
inventory the remains of some of the drugs
and keep the rest. Hospital had been
watching him for some time until they
could confront him, which they did. He
lost his license to practice in NY State.
He went to Florida and did the same thing
and got cought again. My daughter would
wear morphine patches which he gave her.
They would crush oxys and snort them. Then
they got interested in heroin. He would
inject her, then when she got the hang of
it, she would inject herself. He would put
the needles between his toes., and under
his tounge. She went from a vibrant, happy
bouncy mom to a stoned, semi comatose out
of it shell of a person who went door to
door asking people in the neighborhood for
money and the use of their car. It's been
a nightmare. Please keep us in your
prayers.

Most certainly in our circle of prayer
group! My daughter was introduced to meth
from no other than a Doctors son. Her
entire savings was depleted, she was
strung out for over a year....needless to
say, also lost her grant for school,
dropped out and did entirely nothing for
that year. Lived from friend to friend,
place to place. I only heard from her once
or twice between those years. I was so
afraid to even answer the phone at
times........never knew if someone would
call and it might be the worse news of my
life....but.........light at the end of
hte tunnel and my prayers from God WERE
indeed answered. She has been clean now
for over a year. She has a place of her
own, a decent boyfriend, both are
employeed and are about to begin night
courses in school. She will be 25 this
year.....I never once stopped loving her
and knew eventually she'd get back on the
right track...and those who are skeptics
need keep their comments to
themselves.....God will answer your
prayers and he will help her to overcome
htis addiction......Stay strong and
believe wiht all your heart......I am
living proof God Answers Prayers! HUGS!

Bravo! She is in my thoughts and prayers
also. Just think when she comes out you
will have a new clean daughter. Let's just
pray she keeps away from those evil
triggers that promote starting over
again.

I will pray for her and all her family
that this works (the rehab.),and she stays
with it and works the 40 day program, and
stays out. I know lots of people it has
worked for and some it has not.
Your need to be watchful when she is out,
because addicts lie. They will look you
in the eye and lie, steal, cheat, whatever
it takes. It is really hard to get off
and the best approach will also be as you
said STAY away from those "friends" cause
they are not really friends. A good
outpatient program, and getting involved
in a local Narcotics Annonoymous program
will help.
Let's hope this is a major success story.
Take good care and stay strong for both of
you!
