Q: Chantix side effects

The person in the doctor question said that they were experiencing depression and could not stop crying for the past 5 days while on Chantix.

This is NOT a side effect of quitting smoking. Why? Because for one a person must be on Chantix anywhere from 7 to 14 days before they quit smoking for it to work.

The person mentioned that they were on it for 5 days and were crying the entire time. It is my assumption that they were still smoking, so it had nothing to do with smoking cessation, but EVERYTHING to do with the medication!

If you're experiencing side effects such as these, see your doctor immediately!! These side effects are becomeing more and more common as more and more people are now taking the drug.

champix
I'm starting champix for the second time time now. It worked like charm for me the first time. I didn't smoke for 8 months. I started taking them in late August and was off them totally by early december and never thought of smoking until the following july. I made the mistake of thinking I could be around other smokers in a stressful period of my life. I didn't start up again full bore but enough to cause putting them down totally a problem for me. I had constipation, teeth problems, queasy stomach but only after the morning pill and only for about an hour and the dreams of course the first time. I'm on week 3 now and today is my quit day. I had a rough morning but I'm ok this afternoon. I don't seem to be having any side effects except the dreams and some of those are erotic so that's fun. I'm feeling a little weird and scared but like I said this is a stressful time for me and oddly enough the smoking makes it worse because you just sit and smoke and think and idle hands do the devils work. When you try not to smoke you have to keep occupied. I had way more time when I didn't smoke and way less time when I did. Go figure. Good quitting to everyone

Chantix
I'm on day 14 of using Chantix, stopped smoking on the 8th day and have not once today even thought about smoking! This is amazing, I would higly recommend using it as a stop smoking aid, wish I would have tried it sooner! Good luck to all of who are quitting or are trying to! Don't give up

Chantix
Yes, I started having sensitivity to cold liquids in my upper teeth on one side after I had been taking the Chantix for two weeks. I have since weaned myself off of the Chantix due to other side effects and the problem with my teeth has gone away. Hope that helps.

Thank you for sharing. I feel presure here and there, when I eat or when just sitting here. It comes and goes. Not sure if it's the pill or if I should call my dentist.

Getting ready to start Chantix
My husband and I are getting ready to start this- we tried the nicorette gum it helped us cut down but not quit and we could tell it we would not quit on the gum. I am very nervous about the side effects and the dreams I hope so much I do not experience any thing major and can quit smoking. I can not imagine us ever being non smokers

Side effect
My partner had been taking the drug up until 5 days ago, she had just completed the half strength pills and had taken 2 of the full strength. She started to get swelling and rashes on her arms which soon spread to her scalp, by the next day, it covered 70% of her body, and was very itchy, we went to the hospital, and was seen by a doctor, that gave her some pills to help the swelling and stop the itching. 12 hrs later, she was having difficulty in breathing becouse her throat had start to swell, and she was violently vomiting. she went back to the hospital via ambulance. where she was given steroids and an IV drip. that was 5 days ago. and she is still having parts of her body swell up and go down each day.

Chantix causes hair loss
I took Chantix for 2 months and 50% of my hair fell out. My doctor said he has heard of that happening??? Why doesn't Pfizer list it as a side effect? I would NEVER have used this product had I known this. This product should be taken off the market immediately. Do not use it.

No problems...yet
I started Chantix and my quit date was 1 June 09. I have not had any desire to smoke, no dreams, no nothing really. Sleep better than I have in a long time. It has only been a month, so maybe it is all still to come.

how could I deal with my sleep issue? Also some Chantix-effects.
I've been on Chantix for Roughly 2 weeks now, and I have only experienced a few side effects.
The first one was a random dizziness. on taking the "starter set" of Chantix, I have felt a few random occurences of straight dizziness. It feels like you just lost your equilibrium and I was unable to stand myself up without a wall next to me. It only lasted about 5 seconds at a time, but it was extreme.
Another symptom that I have been experiencing more was insomnia-like symptoms. I attempt to sleep but can't(this, lasts up to 2 hours). I have consistantly woken from sleep every 90-120 minutes. In the daytime I have been more prone to daze off than I used to be, previous to the use of Chantix.
The last symptom I have experienced is multiple times of heavy fatigue. The feeling is opposite of tireness from exercise or ''it's time to go to bed'', rather like a day of "wow I felt like I did nothing today," type of deal. Your muscles feel dull and your mind thinks "Ugh, lets just sit and relax."

well, I don't feel the dizziness and I haven't found a natural way of easy sleeping yet, but I can tell you how to deal with any Fatigue loss a little bit easier. First thing that I do is talk to someone. Usually tht psyches me up again pretty fast. Another thing you could do is drink some water. Any type of fatigue(home cure for me) can be cured with 8-12oz. of water.. it makes me feel refreshed! Also I have a routine workout 3 times a week minimal. That seems to help me with my fatigue problems since i feel less fatigued than I did 2 weeks ago(just restarted my gym membership).

Of course, my sleeping problem... as for now I call insomnia-like stmptoms. I like to go natural with a way to sleep. I am 19 years old(5'8'' 135Lb), and I am not interested in perscriptions to sleep. I will re-post on this thread once I can figure the most natural way of sleep. Smile. My presumption right now is just cardio 4 hours before sleep.
