Q: Chances of HIV Infection ?

I was recently on vacation and made the big mistake of having sex with a stripper. I was intoxicated at the time (not an excuse), but during sex I slowly sobered up. This made me slowly go flaccid, which caused the condom to slip off eventually inside her completely.

I don't know how long this went for (few seconds to a few minutes) before I realized I didn't have a condom on. I freaked out as I pulled out, wiped off my penis, and took off.

This has caused me a lot of anxiety and stress the past few days... and I know I have wait 3-6 months to take any HIV tests.

What are the chances that I could have gotten infected?

Thanks,
Doomed for 6 months of agony!

hey
I know exactly what your going through. I had sex with an escort and my condom broke and it took about a minute before I noticed. Either way she ended up giving me chlamydia and I got tested for HIV 3 and a half months after that night and it came back negative. But if your really stressed out you could try PEP which is medication used to help prevent you from getting HIV from events such as this. However, I think it has to be taken within a 72 hour time frame but I am not completely sure about that. Unfortunately this would be a high risk case so my best advise is to NOT stress out, I know its probably going to happen anyways but I'm speaking from experience it only makes things worse and doesn't help anyone. Get tested and not only for HIV but all STD'S and yes you are right about having to wait 6 months, even though some people say 3 months is conclusive. Either way there are other tests they can perform that can reduce your wait time. A PCR RNA test is very effective in detecting HIV, they says the window period can be shortened to only 12 days. However keep in mind the Elisa antibody test is also very effective in detecting HIV and has an average window period of 25 days so don't forget to get this one as well because usually it is free.

You must be Duo test or PCR test but there are not conclusive result.
90.day eliza test is conclusive.
If you have immun ill, drug user or cancer meditican.. you must retest 6.mounth.
But for normal health people window period is 90.day

You can take a HIV test after 3 weeks of exposure, but 3-6 months to be absolutely sure. Your chances are small at best. Do yourself a favor and don't stress yourself out too much, you will end up making yourself sick from worrying.

The CDC recommends you wait at least 3 months for an accurate test.
