Q: cervical surgery effect on fetus

My daughter is due to have an operation next Monday on her cervix due to abnormal cells. I would like her to have a pregnancy test before she goes as I am worried that the operation would harm a foetus. If she does not get a test done (she thinks that she is not pregnant) what harm could it do to the unborn baby?
