hi
My father got Hernia in the neck. the following is the summary

Cervical Spine B/V
Cervical curvature is starightened with normal bony alignment. Osteophytes are seen in cervical vertebrae. Disc spaces are reduced between C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-c7. No cervical rib is seen
Impression: Cervical spondylosis

Currently he is planning to travel to india to do some ancient treament specifically from the following clinic

http://www.aryavaidyasala.com/(S(enaare45v qsw1w45vgm14n55))/treatments.aspx

They would mostly do oil rubbing and message...

My question is would such message or oil rubbing can have any negative effect?? or it would have some result...

Currently he is fine.. he can drive and everything is ok.

Thank you in anticipation

Hernia in the neck
Hi there

It would be good to know his age but you didn't mention that.
The lower segments of the neck are related to the TMJ (TemporoMandibular Joint) and support a range of jaw muscles (masseter, buccinator, temporalis, and internal and external pterygoid) but also the function of the thyroid, parathyroid, larynx and pharynx. All very important stuff!
The spondylosis is an attempt by the spinal segments to grow together, like broken bones. This occurs when there is a narrowing of the gap between two vertebrae. Is he on medication? Perhaps it might be better if he sees a Doctor and has his thyroid and para thyroid checked before travel!
He'll enjoy the rubs although I doubt if that would make a great difference to the state of his neck. These degenerative changes are those of a person in the mid sixties.
The TMJ problems indicate food allergies. I guess he is from India? It would be very difficult for him to avoid allergies in India, but dairy would be the most important food item to avoid. I recommend a zinc supplement of 75 mg daily for 6 months to boost his glandular system and 3000 mg of Vitamin C to make sure his immune system gets a boost before he leaves on his holiday.

I hope he has a great trip

Kinergy
