AdviseMe,

Yes, Cyclosporin and other immune suppressive drugs are being used to fight HAM caused by HTLV. A user on the WiseGeek forum (vscared) is currently taking cyclosporin at St Mary's Hospital in London. The idea is that suppressing the immune system will protect nerves from being attacked by the immune system.

Your 100% right Tony. No Professional wants to talk about HTLV cause their all dumb and they think they know it all cause of the field their in. The way I look at it, they might as well throw their degree in the trash, cause they didn't learn anything. If they look up HTLV, then they would know that there is 4 of them. HTLV 1,2,3, and 4. HTLV 3, and 4 is HIV. The doctor's, and clinics think that HTLV is another name for HIV, but they don't understand that only 3 and 4 is HIV. I've tried to tell them, but just because I don't have a degree in medical field, they won't believe a word I say. All because they want to be smarter than us, and really all they are doing is proven how stupid they are and that we know more then they do, and we don't have a degree in medical field. I also don't believe that the Government don't know anything or have any tests for us to figure out what's going on with us. I also know that nothing, and no STD etc. gets past the Government without them KNOWING about it. That's the truth. So, in the meantime, we all have to suffer and deal with whatever we have.

It's something to ponder. I've never take the time to read about this infection. It's not spread sexually they say.

This would be better to have than HIV, HTLV, HERPES, CMV, or the other can't get rid offf virues.

Hello Guys,

I have read all conversations in this thread. I took much time to read this all. Because I am in exactly similar situation with some of you guys. I did a stupid mistake in september 2011, that is had sex with a lady whose HIV status is uknown. I used condom, but it was slip off. After one month of post exposure, I suffered all HIV symptoms(Oral thrush, tonsil pain, sore throat, fatigue, rashes, dizziness,..etc). I did 7 HIV antibody tests so far. The latest was 9 months of post exposure. I did also STD tests at 6 months of the exposure. All results came out NEGATIVE. But still suffering bad pain inside my mouth since november. All symptoms persist still now. I did many things with doctors. My white blood cell count is getting lower and lower. This week i got the an other WBC count result of 2.8, which is the lowest.

Guys, I don't know what to do. Doctors are ignoring my HIV case. But I am still 99.999% sure that I have HIV. But the mystery is all test results are negative. Guys we are in similar situation, please let us try to find out the cause. I suspect 2 things,
1). As there is new virus that is not realised yet.
2). HIV is changing its behaviour and antibody tests couldn't detect it

Guys, please let us keep updating ideas. Thanks a lot!

That is a good point Darkguy. It is very possible that HIV could be changing it's behaviour, and the tests can not detect it. I've always believed that there is nothing in this world that is impossible. So, that is a very good idea. At first I was wondering if it could be a new virus, but not in this case. It still seems like HIV. Like I've said before, I've looked up every single STD that you can get sexually, and there is only one that matches every symptom that I've been threw, and still going threw, and that's HIV itself. The other crap that you can get from sex only a few is listed that I've been threw. HIV is the only virus that showed every single symptom that I'm going threw. I do know that there are somethings out there that do change there pattern, or behaviour.

I don't know guys. With all the weight loss that I have lost which is a lot, and the rash that would come and go on my shoulders, back, and chest. And other things on top of that, it's like I'm 100% sure that I have HIV. I also know from what they say is the most common places to get rashes from HIV is your shoulders, back, and chest. Plus the biggest sickness with flue like symptoms that I had last year only lasted for a short while, and it all went away. I also noticed that I've also had bad chest infection a couple different times every since this started last year. Some HIV people has said that in some people the HIV symptoms never go away. I've even read about that somewhere. They have to know what their talking about, cause their living with HIV

Dalton,

Yes, people with HIV do have symptoms, but they also test positive for HIV. HTLV, like HIV, is also a retrovirus and causes similar immune problems.

Dalton,

Yes, that is my idea.

TonyDewitt,

I didn't test for HTLV, this is my first time even to hear about HTLV. I will inform my doctors to try this test for me.

Guys,

I really give up about my status. Am 99.999..% sure that I have HIV. The only thing I could have been waiting is to see the confirmation from lab result. I have been in bad time since November am still in the same condition. I don't know why God send this horrific thing to human beings.

Guys, I don't want to treat HIV as many people are doing, instead I am ready to struggle to cure it. No no no need to bugging others any more. We don't need to expect something good from others(doctors, researchers...), because no one can be as care as our selves. So, let us stand up together and struggle to cure it. Never give up to cure HIV. Nothing is impossible, stop treating HIV any more. Am 100% confident to cure HIV. But we need to do together and let us promise for the commitment. I will start my commitment soon regardless of my HIV result. Let us have one better communication network and start everything together. I want to know you idea soon(against or in favour of me). I will be responsible to organise the team. Come on guys!!!

Thanks guys

Darkguy, I dont think u have HIV, your HIV worry is ruled out with many test that u have taken. Please look for some other tests.

TonyDewitt see the below abstract.Study conducted at Department of Oral Pathology, Dental School, University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Study mean that even with kissing which involves fluid transmission will infect some one from HTLV I.

Human T-lymphotropic Virus, Type I (HTLV-I) is transmitted via blood products and via sexual contact across mucosal surfaces. We investigated the presence of HTLV-I-specific antibodies in whole saliva samples from 10 seronegative and 28 seropositive volunteers from a hospital in southern Japan. Antibodies directed to HTLV-I antigens were found in the salivas from 22 of 28 (79%) of the seropositive subjects. None of the seronegative individuals showed evidence of salivary antibodies. Antibodies directed to the envelope antigens of the virus were found in 21 of 22 positive saliva samples. Secretory antibodies may be important in preventing mucosal transmission.

ATL or HAM/TSP which is like HIV is to full blown AIDS.

The real numbers of HTLV infection is much more than they predictd currently by blood bank and doctors whihc is 20mm.Caz HTLV dosent form a part of regular testing,95% asymptomatic will pass it on to others and if they are not testing us the real number is not even close to being established unless we are being tested without our awareness.

This act of medical agencies, govt, internationl scientfic community is faliure of Humanity and science.

AdviseMe,

You are 100 percent right - it is a failure of medical agencies, government, and the international scientific community that no HTLV surveillance exists. They will say that it's not a common disease, yet won't test us, so as you said the real number of infected people is not even close to being established.

As with HIV, having neutralizing antibodies in saliva does help stop transmission, otherwise everyone who came in contact with saliva would be infected, and the disease would have spread much faster.

Dark, I don't think that God made HIV. Believe me or not, but I truly believe that man like scientists make crap like this, cause they try to act like they are God. And sometimes we do get punished for doing things that we're not supposed. If we didn't, then we would never learn from our mistakes, and keep doing it over and over again. Just hang in there dark, we all have too.

Adviseme, Dalton and dfrank,

Really thanks guys. You guys are helpful. Am searching about HTLV and it sounds that our symptoms might be related with it. From my complete blood test result, my white blood cell count is getting low. now it is 2.8. it was 3.4 in february. my lymphocyte count is getting high(58.3). This indicates that there is virus infection. I never been even a little health problem before. Even i never went to clinic for health problem. One stupid sexual exposure in september changes my life forever.

I don't want to complain about the past. Because i did many times but nothing i got from that. I know all of us have similar problem, so let us think about the solutions. Let us do something good not only for us but for millions of people who are suffering similar things too.

Guys let us start something and go a head to solve problems. PLEASE GOD HELP US!.

DarkGuy,

I need to clarify some things that you wrote:

(1) HTLV shares symptoms with HIV, including Candida (yeast infection), dermatitis, etc.

(2) Most importantly, you need to understand that HIV people want NO mention of HTLV, even if they are coinfected with it. If you attempt to mention HTLV on the HIV forums on MedHelp, POZ, etc you will be BANNED. I know this because that's what happened to me. So it's great that you want to gather support for what we're suffering from, but also realize that the HIV folks don't want HTLV people to be recognized and treated - their disease is the only disease that matters, and politically they want us to be ignored. So instead of everyone looking for a cure, it's them against us. They'd rather have us dead in the ground than no longer be the only retrovirus in town. Please keep this in mind as you go forward, because if we do have HTLV they are going to want us marginalized to death.

Best wishes / HTLVhelp

Darkguy,

You don't have HIV. Lots of us were in the same and tested for it more than 7 times.

Change the lab that does your testing and you'll see that the result will be the same as the other 7 you did.

Turn your worries into joy and test for something else.
