Azacytidine is active against HIV & HTLV
PS: The reason that Azacytidine is active against HIV & HTLV is because:

(1) It awakens crucial suppressor genes, so the immune system can kill hidden infected cells.
(2) It incorporates itself into RNA, inhibiting viral infection.
(3) It incorporates itself into DNA, inhibiting viral production.

For these reasons, azacytidine is active against HIV & HTLV, and has been asserted to be an effective treatment by Dr. Louis Manksy's paper (against HIV), and the patient in Greece (against HTLV).

TonyDewitt, Thank for these info.
Why arent Dr. Louis Manksy's Lab promoting this drug against HTLV, coz once they see Greece patient getting cured for HTLV with azacytidine. They should have marketed azacytidine and convinced FDA to approve it for HTLV infection.

Azacytidine's activity against HIV
AdviseMe,

You're welcome - Dr. Mansky's lab did the research of Azacytidine's activity against HIV. The patient in Greece was treated with Azacytidine against HTLV. When I contacted Dr. Mansky about the Greek patient's paper, he was surprised that the paper existed, but agreed that Azacytidine could also be active against HTLV. Furthermore, he wrote that the best way to get a clinical trial for Azacytidine against HTLV would be to find a research doctor friendly with the company that makes Azacytidine (Celgene, Inc.). Even my doctor contemplated when the patent for Azacytidine would expire, so generic Azacytidine could be manufactured, which would being the cost (one thousand dollars per dose) down considerably. The same considerations (drug cost, patent expiration, generic versions) exist for HIV medications, which are very expensive as long as the patent exists.

AdviseMe,

Amen to that - the drug has been around for a long time, so hopefully the patent expires soon.

Was chatting to one of this guy in UK who has all these HTLV symptoms past 6 months after exposure. The experts in UK said to him the window period is 3 months and there is no need for further testing.
His week 22 HTLV test was negative but now at week 25 his white blood count is high and still has all symptoms.

High counts also
AdviseMe,

Same here - the doctor said that my tests last week show a high sedimentation rate, which indicates inflammation. I'm experiencing arthritis in my hand and back so bad that I can hardly move. They need to identify this virus, it is HTLV related, has the same symptoms as HTLV, but doesn't show up on tests.

Scared, have you told your dr. about it being possible that you have swollen lymph nodes in your armpit? I've been going thru the same pain, and I found out that swollen lymph node is more serious in your armpitt than anywhere else. Has any of you guys had your cd4 count tested? I know that those who have hiv has said online that most of the time when you itch it's useally because the cd4 count is low. That's scary.

Dalton76, my doctor was said cd4 counts were high in my initial test and they have come down normal in the recent one. With HTLV cd4 counts go high.
I know with HIV it goes low.

T-cell counts are high with HTLV, low with HIV
AdviseMe,

You're correct: T-cell counts are high with HTLV, low with HIV. Regarding my tests, nothing can be determined still, and I'm at the seven month mark. Symptoms still continue, spinal pain, knee pain, recurring abscesses, all HTLV symptoms. The doctor recommended coming back in three months and testing again. Meanwhile, my suffering is significant.

Dalton,

Any viral infection can cause itching.

Hello friends, I got some tests done back on may 29th at the local health department and got my results back today.

HIV negative, syphilis negative, gonareah and chlamydia negative, hep.a,b,c all negative. I guess I can finally let these go since these test were a little over 6 months since the exposure. I wanted to get tested for hsv1 and hsv2 but they don't test for that there. I'm happy with the results but yet disappointed because I know something's not right. Im still having pains in my neck, armpits, groin, spine, spleen, and liver area that's why I'm sure this is some kind of an infection. I pretty much have narrowed it down to hsv1 and hsv2, hpv, CMV, or HTLV.

REMEMBER EVERYONE, there are over 100 strans of hpv in the world and 9 of which can cause cancer. It wouldn't be a bad idea to visit a dentist to get screened for oral cancer, I'm going tommmrow to make an appt. this throat thing is really worrying me.

Guys, go to hpv videos and click on the one with the girl and have a listen.

Best of luck to all of you.

Im going to retest at the 6 month mark myself, which time is going a little easier now after 12 Weeks. Please keep us updated, I feel like me and you are going through the same illness. I will also keep everyone updated. Il be visiting a doctor next week to ask for test bacterial and viral. Right now my major symtoms are, head glands are sensitive and hurt at times, stiff neck, knee joints feel swollen and sensitive, hands are sensitive and ache some times (arthritis like) speen goes numb and feels enlarged and of course THIS SORE THROAT THAT WONT GO AWAY! Ive tryed gargling warm salt water but no luck. Next try,is veniger. Watever is wrong with me? I dont, know, but im able to wake up everyday so thank God for that.

Depressedman, I agree I think me and you are going through the exact same thing. My neck glands feel sore and won't stop. Stiff neck that comes and goes. I have this white looking stuff in the back of my throat that's been there for months, my ENT dr. says its moucus. Everywhere I've read is that moucus in the back of the throat that dosent go away is a sign of cancer. I had a videoscopy done 3 weeks ago but no visible lumps were found. I just don't under stand what can cause throat problems for so long.

Don't forget to watch the hpv video it only lasts a couple of minutes.

Depressedman sorry I didn't go back and check to see if anyone posted about it, but after reading about this I'm deffinately gonna get tested for it. And by the way I feel EXACTLY like you. I let my drunkenness and stupidity get the best of me. I've had sex with my wife I think 3 times since the exposure over 6 months now. It just isn't the same anymore knowing you more than likely infected her with something it makes you feel like a complete scum, at least it does me anyway. I just hope and pray it isn't something serious. So TRUST me everything your thinking or feeling inside I feel the exact same way. Hang in there that's all we can do.

I'd rather feel better than have the doctor tell me I'm fine
AdviseMe,

Thanks for the congrats on my testing, but I'd rather feel better than have the doctor tell me everything is fine.

Scared, D-Man, Ustas,

We're all in the same boat as far as symptoms go, burning skin, knee joints feel swollen and sensitive, hands ache some times (arthritis like), spleen and liver pain, etc. It's fair to say that we all have the same thing, since the symptoms are so similar. I'm also experiencing many eye floaters and spine pain. I'd love for this not to be HTLV, and for it to go away on its own, but that seems like a dream. Also like the rest of you, I feel dirty and don't want to even touch my girlfriend. She believes this is all psychological but she's experiencing symptoms too, she sleeps all day, she gets red eyes, rashes, etc. The doctor put me on another round of antibiotics for the giant abscess I got on my leg (another HTLV symptom). I don't want to get an abscess every month (so far two in two months, one on my face, and one on my leg), and have to take antibiotics all of the time, that's no good. At this point, everyone seems to be beyond the three month mark, and some people are even beyond the six month mark, so I suppose that we will just continue from here? My doctor suggested that I test every three months going forward, so I will do that. Do the rest of you have a plan of what to do going forward? There was a group of people on TheBody site that were friends and one by one they died from lymphoma, which again sounds like HTLV, but all of them test negative for it, just like us. I'm afraid that's what's going to happen to us, we'll just drop like flies while the medical industry ignores us.

Best wishes / HTLVhelp
