HTLV worried
UK_Worry, I Hope Protected sex was that protected and safe for HTLV thing. I want to relax and move on with my life.Dont want to think of any infection. Like i did after my negative HIV rapid duo test, My doc said i dont have HIV and i can move on with life other STDs are not serious and can be cleared with drugs.Little did my doc and myslef new this could be HTLV which is equally serious.
Like yourself,I wish i could relax and my symptoms dont show up.
All these symptoms dont allow me to relax, time and again make me feel i have it. I wasen't knowing if HTLV existed 8 weeks before. Only after looking at this forum for HTLV i checked for symptoms online got very scared how every symptoms of mine match to HTLV. Was also angry there is no Drug exist for HTLV infection till date.

Yes, blame me for awareness of HTLV and tell me that I need mental help. When you are all tired of testing for HIV and want to know what's really wrong with you, you won't be telling me to get mental help.

no, we don't blame you tony. But there isn't much about htlv, as a matter of fact. I've been on thebody, and all the other sites, and maybe we do have htlv and maybe we don't. From everything I have read, they all pretty much say that You have a better chance to catch hiv than htlv. Plus more people has a better chance to get symptoms from hiv than htlv. The only reason why htlv is heard of anymore, it's not because it's an old virus, that has nothing to do with it. It's because no one goes thru the symptoms like hiv. Infact, they don't even know that they even have anything at all until the body gets worse, and their about to di. If you read it carefully, you would know, and understand that. The girl who had it showed NO signs. She had NOT been sick or anything. She only found out, cause she liked to donate blood, and they called her back, and told her that she could not donate anymore cause her blood showed up positive for htlv. That's the only way that she even knew about it, cause there were NO SYMPTOMS, and that's fact. I do believe in HTLV, but showing symptoms are rare, unless it's at late stage.

Stayed up late last night just researching thebody.com and all doctors keep saying 3 months is conclusive, I want to believe it but all the symptoms I see wont let me.. I also like many on here had PROTECTED LATEX SEX, but im sure something went wrong. Becuase I changed after, I forget to mention me and my friend payed for the same girl that nite, both used condoms, but 3-4 Weeks later we both got red spots on our penis and both got tested for all stds and HIV and its negative, he tested to the 8 week and I tested to the 14 week. The difference is that hes not going thru nothing else like me, headaches, muscle weakness, pins and needles in feet and hands, soar ghroat, his GF is not having symptoms either. But my Gf is. Its not only me. I read on the body that average is 25 days to test positive, I tested at 100 days which should be extremley accurate. But im going thru hell.

UK worry I hope ur right about the symptoms are cuased by different reasons, becuase I fear for my life and health.

Dalton76 Agree with you most people dont show up any symptoms, less then 1% of the people infected will show symptoms. And i have started to believe i fall within those 1% after these symptoms i experince.

This is the data i found googleng the Window period.

The HTLV serological window period is not clearly known. The period of seroconvertion is
related to the route of transmission and with the level of infected cells received in this event.
The virus transmission through blood transfusion is considered the most efficient route and
the seroconvertion of the recipients is around two months (Manns et al., 1992), while for the
other routes of transmission the seroconvertion can reach six months or more.

Thanks for not blaming me.
Dalton,

Thanks for not blaming me.

The blame should be put on the medical industry and the government officials for never educating people about HTLV, instead of there being NO information to inform people about this disease. HIV has been around less than a century, and has tons of coverage, yet HTLV has been around for 50,000 years, but no effort to warn people about it. Entire families have HTLV, and they experience symptoms within a few months or a few years, especially the children - you can look at studies of children with HTLV, and read about how they are suffering even though they aren't about to die.

Like HIV, a person infected with HTLV may never show symptoms, or may show symptoms right away. Unlike HIV, HTLV has no determined antibody window period. Richard Engath, who started the HTLV National Registry, tested negative at 4 months just like I did, and wanted to get retested, but the doctor refused. When he finally found another doctor to test him at a later date, he was found to be HTLV positive, and suffers with all of the clinical symptoms - uveitis, aveolitis, dermatitis, etc. So all of the people who have HTLV who are suffering with symptoms would disagree that the disease only shows symptoms at the late stage. It's a horrible disease that makes people miserably sick.

Hello friends, after my 2nd negative MRI I asked my neurologist about HTLV and he said he was sure I didn't have it. He says he's seen only 2 cases ever. After examining me you know doing all the things they do I asked him to test me for it and he said no. My question is how can these drs. Refuse to test us this is our health were talking about? He said I don't need to worry about HTLV because I would know if I had it or not. Guys what other dr. Will test me for this besides a neurologist my pcp already thinks this is all in my head I'm not sure whether I should ask him or not.

Has anyone read about molluscum contaigiosum I read it's very common in people with HIV and HTLV I'm positive this is what I have on my face, I also notice it on my wife as well. When I shave and I scrape them white stuff comes out I never had this before. This is what's making me think maybe we do have HIV and its just taking us longer to test positive. Maybe we're coninfected with HTLV, is it possible for us to have molluscum without having HIV or HTLV? I want to get tested for HTLV but what if my dr. Says no what do I do?

ays111, your test at 13 weeks post exposure was your conclusive result, get HIV out of your mind as long as you haven't had anymore exposures. I know it's hard but you have to look elsewhere. Hang in ther my friend.

Guys look into hpv as well there's not a test for men but I here there's a solution they can rub on you to find out if your infected if the warts aren't visible.

TONY & U_K worry

Guys , lets not get in the blame game situation. Lets focus on helping each other.

Tony did not say any of us have HTLV. He sugggested testing, which i did. I've never heard of HTLV before until Tony mentioned it.

All of us tested for a number of STIs but still suffer symptoms. This states that something is still wrong and arguing won't figure out what.

HELP, HELP, HELP is what we need, not a fusion.

MY UPDATE--i am still having symptoms; leg muscle pain, kidney area pain, loose stool, skin rash, and my girlfriend still suffer a few symptoms.

I suspect that we are all infected with the same thing
I suspect that we are all infected with the same thing, and that it's not HIV. Since we are all experiencing similar symptoms, I suspect that it's HTLV. I saw a hematologist earlier this week, and asked him to be tested for MDS (the pre-leukemia stage caused by HTLV). He said that he wanted to do some preliminary blood count tests before testing me for MDS. When those blood count tests return, if he sees problems, he will then test me for MDS. If I do have MDS, then he will treat me with Azacytidine, which is what cured the patient in Greece of both MDS and HTLV after 8 months. I understand that this is a long and tedious road, but I am sharing it with all of you in case any of you become sick enough to warrant testing for MDS, which can lead to a rapidly fatal type of leukemia.

AdviseMe,

Thanks for the hope and information on research; just explain further, the Azacytidine was researched by Dr. Louis Mansky's lab to have "lethal mutagenesis" against HIV, meaning that it could eradicate HIV. Extending the same idea to eradicate HTLV seems logical, and has been shown to work in a patient in Greece.
