UK_Worry,

I hope that you are HTLV negative, but Mr. Sadowsky from the TheBody site wrote that HTLV antibodies might never appear. This is not intended to upset you, but to educate the public on the difficulty in diagnosing this disease.

Best wishes.

I think I will test on Friday which will be almost 14 Weeks.

im so scared! Im losing my mind! I keep reading about HIV all day!

If u google real HIV stories u will get an idea of what symptoms people got before they tested positive.. Macrobiotic infection , pneumonia, and mono. one woman said she knew she had HIV and tested negative in tests but krpt telling her doctor her symptoms, she said she had a sore throat for months and a bump in the back of her head. Then later they finally found hiv.. I feel so scared.becuase I feel I have all those symtoms except bump in the back of head.. God Im so scared I cant concentrate on anything. Im not trying to scare any of you just lettimg u know what real HIV+ people felt and what they were diagnozed with.. Im testimg this week. Forget the wait. Im testing Friday.. I will ask for an htvl tedt too.. And repeat sypillis and heps...

Dry mouth,( gets worse when I'm talking), feeling of something being stuck in my throat (worse when my mouth is really dry), sore neck glands, stiff neck off and on, unbelievable spine pain that comes and goes, constant light headedness and dizziness. Head aches off and on, pains in my arm pits and groin, itchy upper chest collar bone area, leg muscle pains, joint pains, dry skin, sticky saliva, slight blurred vision off and on, hip pains off and on, night sweats(5 times since exposure), pains in my liver and spleen area, bone pain and tenderness off and on and some bouts of nausea that comes and goes.

Hey Scared, I don't know how true it is cause hiv is supposed to hit people differently, but I read somewhere online that someone asked about dry mouth, and someone replied and said that hiv doesn't cause dry mouth, but the hiv meds do. I would think that the thrush would give gry mouth, but I don't know. I also saw online at hiv encyclopedia, and they update it all the time, but it is there that they say in rare cases it shows up at 6 months, but it also says in extremely rare cases it can take longer than 6 months. Everywhere site that I have been thru says the samething about htlv, and they say that most people with htlv don't even know it, cause they don't show any signs. It's like that one girl online that has htlv. She didn't even know it, cause she wasn't sick, and she didn't show any signs. The blood bank is the one that told her that she was infected, cause they always test for htlv when you give blood. This one site also said the main signs for htlv 1&2 work mainly on your nerves, bones, and make your legs weak. I use to have problems with pains in my side and liver area, but it all went away. I guess only time will tell. I just can't figure out that they knew about htlv many years ago and didn't come up with any meds for it. Did they think that it wouldn't come back? I just think that it's their way of killing us off.

HIV Symptoms confused with HTLV
UKWorry: thanks for your encouraging words, i pray to god your words come true. While i am haveing all these symptoms currently.

Dalton76, I know what you mean. HTLV virus is ignored for past 35 years and nothing is done in terms of medicine and awareness. There is this writer on HTLV Patricia Nell Warren, she calls it as ''HIV's Politically Invisible Cousins: HTLV-1 and -2''. Nothing is done for 35 mm people currently suffering from HTLV today and left to die slowly on their own.
There isint much information on CDC website about this.
Please sign the pitition and lets fight for this.

AdviseMe,

Thank you for your courage to stand up for what needs to be done about HTLV - I hope that more people will be like you. Someone on this site told me to post somewhere else instead of posting here - what do you think about that? Already an effort to throw out any mention of HTLV and the suffering it causes.

Similarly, the guy mentioned in Patricia Nell Warren's article was thrown out of a doctor's office for asking for a HTLV test. How insane is that?

This forum should be renamed "HIV and AIDS and other retroviruses", so that we can continue without being thrown out or asked to leave.

Best wishes.

There should be space for HTLV along with HIV. HTLV is a same retrovirus like HIV and infects the same way though dosent causes AIDS, but has devastating and fatal effect on life.
The other thing is that why dont people come forward and share the experience on HTLV.

I went to my local gum clinic at 11 and 13 weeks and results came back negative but I was still not convinced so I went to my gp who sent me for immunoglobulin tests which came back with high levels of IgM and iGg so I believe something is attacking my immune system.

Please can someone here advise me as to where I go from here, Do I go for a pcr test or go for another antibody test at 6 months as I'm aware other sub types like crf-a/e take longer to detect? Thanks any help would be appreciated as every minute is hell and I know it's all my fault for being so stupid in the first place.ull

I'm going for a scan on the swollen gland in groin but I'm really lost I can't except the negative results as it was in south east Asia with csw and when I went to the hospital after coughing up blood the doctor said it could be "AIDS". So either these antibody tests are missing something because these symtpoms are clearly pointing to one thing and one thing only and it's driving me insane. Please somebody.

We are all experiencing similar symptoms
Worriedsick100,

We (about five of us on this forum) are all experiencing similar symptoms that are more like HTLV and less like HIV. We've all tested negative for HIV past the three month mark, so we know that none of us have HIV (thank God). However, we can't ignore the signs of HTLV.

AdviseMe,

Thanks for saying that there should be space for HTLV along with HIV - like you said, it's a retrovirus also, and has a devastating and fatal effect on life. To answer your question, the reason that people are reluctant to come forward about HTLV is because they will be told that they are CRAZY, and will get the same message that I received on this site telling me to get off this site and go someplace else. Can you see how this type of harassment would cause people to stay in hiding? It's a shame, and the guy who sent me the message asking me to get off the site should be ashamed of himself.

Best wishes.

I know I'm sounding very stubborn but I've been tested for htlv the lot and ever since that doctor mentioned aids it is all coming together.... The purple spots in mouth, candida infections, swollen gland in groin for over 3 months now, red spots over body, no appetite, weight loss is nearly 10 pounds.

Off to the infectious disease department Tuesday to see what they say I guess, I'm convincing my self I'm not cracking up here cause my eyes are seeing real things here and my body feels beaten.

Worriedsick100,

You are not cracking up - while the testing for HIV is reliable, the testing for HTLV is not. On TheBody web site, Mr. Sadowsky states that some people never develop antibodies to HTLV, so testing for it is very hit & miss. HTLV will make you feel miserable, I went through months of physical agony with the doctor telling me that I needed to see a psychiatrist. Believe me, you don't have HIV.

Best wishes.

I would completely drop it and move on if the incident was in the uk but since it was in Cambodia and the girl worked in a club where men are obviously sleeping with her nearly every night... What I've done is unforgivable and I know I have not come out of this unscathed due to the symptoms. Nobody at the clinics can reassure me that these ag/ab tests can detect strains in Asia by 3 months as all they deal with is situations in the uk and mostly homosexual situations which is so worrying and I've read cases when a guy waited 6 months to test positive as he's incident was in Asia.

Still the purple spots in mouth continues the gland in groin is swollen aswell as many other things... This is mentally doing me no favours!

Worriedsick100,

Can you please accept that you don't have HIV? Other infections could be ailing you, but HIV is not the cause of your problems.

Best wishes.

I went to the clinic yesterday at 15 months and my hiv came back negative, so this time I'm going to believe it. I told her that when it all started it felt like something was stuck in my throat, and she said that's not even hiv. What I don't understand is that I know that htlv is real, but if you read all about it like I have it says that people who has it don't show any signs of it until it gets you down. It also said that there is meds for it that will slow it down, but it will not stop it
