Cerebral palsy and tmj

My stepson has both cerebral palsy and tmj. He is 28 years old and is confined to a wheel chair and has been all of his life. He is having extreme amounts of pain from his tmj. Now my husband and his ex-wife are looking for an oral surgeon to correct the problem. Has there been any other parents out there who have a child with CP and TMJ and has the same issues? We are located in Arizona. Any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Bev.

I have spastic diplegia and a few years ago I suffered from TMJ. It would affect one side of my jaw, and then switch to the other. I stopped chewing gum and got a mouth guard from my dentist to wear at night. The problem disappeared and I have not had any symptoms for quite a long time.
