Q: central nervous system shungs

Okay, when I was 13, I had a cerebral-gastric shunt put in (I guess it's safe that everybody knows what that is?) to drain CSF from a busted arachnoid cyst.

Anyway, that was 2003. In may of 2007 i had a ct scan and my neurologist said that there is no longer any csf at all, and the shunt is just there, safer to leave it than to remove it.

I was looking at a list of military DQs (I'm currently waiting on an air force waiver for this condition), and i found one that said "central nervous system shunts".

What is a central nervous system shunt?
Is it completely different, or in the same category?

Can somebody help clear this up please?
