M 22 year old son was bitten by a dog in the leg, he went to the emergency room and was treated. After 3 days the dog was not found so he started the course of the rabies vaccine. The bite became infected and he was diagnosed with cellulitis. He was able to avoid surgery, but had two courses of IV antibiotics and was then given oral antibiotics. He has a history of low iron after infections. My question is, approximately a week and 1/2 after he finished the antibiotic, he had a few beers with some friends. For the first time when drinking he can't remember part of the night. He is not sure whether he blacked out or just feel asleep. This is disconcerting to him, could the recovery from the infection have contributed to the effect of the alcohol?
