Hi. I just found out that my son who is 8 has celiacs. I'm trying to find good ideas for him. It's kind of a shock but I'm ok w/it.. It's been a long road up to this point trying to figure out what was wrong w/him.

You have got through the hardest part - the diagnosis. Now it is mainly a case of making sure all of his foods are g/f. It is so much easier now than it used to be with all of the packaged g/f foods that you can buy. I used to have to bake my son's bread. Now you can just buy a loaf, so sandwiches and toast are simple. You can buy breakfast cereal that is g/f also. Dinners of meat and vegetables are no problem and your child can eat plenty of fruit also. In Australia our supermarkets carry a small range of g/f pasta, biscuits, cake mixes. The sky is the limit. Buy some g/f cookbooks, they will help you a lot. Also get used to reading the ingredients section on food labels. It is a pain at first but soon becomes second nature. Teach you son to do this too, so he will know what to look for if he is offered anything to eat while out. I have spent the last 16 years doing these things for my son, so I am happy to try to answer any specific questions you might have. Good luck!
